Repair and servicing

Air conditioning repair and servicing

Poor cooling, odd noises or a system that will not start: we diagnose it, fix it, and keep it maintained so it does not happen again.

A well maintained system runs quietly, costs less to run and lasts years longer. When something does go wrong, we respond quickly: our engineers diagnose the fault, explain it in plain English, and repair it with quality parts.

We repair and service all brands, not just the ones we install, from single wall units at home to VRV and VRF systems across commercial buildings.

Most breakdowns we see would have been caught by a routine service. Filters clog, refrigerant drifts, drains block: small things that turn into big ones when nobody is looking.

Servicing

Maintenance that prevents the breakdown.

We provide a full maintenance schedule in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. That protects the warranty, keeps the efficiency where it should be, and catches faults while they are still small.

A service visit covers the checks that matter: filters cleaned, coils inspected, refrigerant charge checked, drains cleared, controls tested, and a straight report on anything that will need attention.

  • Repairs on all brands, domestic and commercial
  • Servicing in line with manufacturer requirements
  • Filters, coils, refrigerant and drains checked every visit
  • Plain English reports, no invented faults
  • F-Gas qualified engineers on every job
  • Maintenance plans for homes and businesses

Before you call

What the symptom usually means.

None of this replaces an engineer looking at it, but it will tell you whether to switch the system off in the meantime.

Blowing, but not cold Most often a refrigerant leak or a filter thick with dust. Turn it off rather than running it flat out: a compressor working against a low charge is what turns a repair into a replacement.
Water dripping indoors Nearly always a blocked condensate drain. Straightforward to clear, and worth doing quickly before it marks the wall or the ceiling below.
A noisy outdoor unit Fan bearings, a loose panel, or debris in the housing. Worth looking at early, because a failing fan puts extra load on the compressor.
A musty smell on start up Growth on the coil and in the drain tray. A proper service cleans it out. An air freshener only covers it up for a fortnight.
It trips the electrics Stop using it and give us a call. It could be the unit or the circuit, and either way it wants testing rather than resetting again and again.
It runs constantly Either undersized for the room or losing charge. The readings taken during a service tell us which of the two it is.

Questions

Asked before most jobs.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Once a year for most homes, and twice a year for commercial systems or anything running daily. We provide a full maintenance schedule in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements, which also protects the warranty.

Do you repair systems you did not install?

Yes. We repair and service all brands, whether or not we fitted them. If a system is beyond sensible repair we will say so honestly and price a replacement instead.

My system is running but not cooling. What is wrong?

The usual causes are clogged filters, a refrigerant leak or a failed sensor. It is usually a quick diagnosis for an engineer. Turn the system off and give us a call rather than running it flat out.

What does a service visit include?

Filters cleaned, coils inspected, refrigerant charge and airflow checked, condensate drains cleared and controls tested, finished with a plain report on the system’s condition and anything worth watching.

In their words

“Their installation actually enhanced the architectural aesthetics of a high design environment.”
